Editing

Are you seeking a professional editor to work on your film? Alternatively, you might engage an expert in the business to polish your film and add the finishing touches to make your tale shine. Setjoo Studio offers just the thing for you!

How are we different?

Our company is a firm believer in keeping up with the latest trends and innovating. A fresh approach to editing is in high demand these days. This gives us an advantage over our competitors, who are still employing antiquated methods.

Why us?

We provide the best tools and techniques to optimize your film which will undoubtedly enhance your plot to be among the best. Our professional skill-set is well-versed in producing award-winning edits to tell your story.

Techniques we use:

  • Cross dissolve:

Within the story, a cross dissolve can serve a variety of functions and motivations. It can represent the passage of time, or it can use overlapping "layers" or dissolves to show multiple stories or scenes occurring at the same time but shot at different times.

  • Fade in/out:

Quite self-explanatory. We fade out one clip and bring in another. Most of the time, this implies a passage of time, such as a night-to-day switch or someone falling asleep, but it can be jarring if not used correctly. It works well in non-standard applications.

  • Cut-away shots:

Cutaways are shots that take the audience's attention away from the main characters or action. They add context to the scene and can increase tension and foreshadowing.

  • Parallel editing:

When we cut between two different scenes that are happening at the same time in different places, we are doing this type of editing. It can be useful for increasing tension.

  • Match cut:

A match cut is an edit that gives the scene context and continuity while also pushing it in a specific direction without disorienting the viewer. We use it to move between scenes or around a space while keeping everything in sync. A simple version would be to film someone opening a door from behind, then cutting to the opposite side as they walk through it.

  • Smash cut:

This is where we would use the smash cut if we have a loud scene that immediately transitions to a quiet scene or vice versa. We use it when we need to make an abrupt transition between two completely different scenes, emotions, or narratives.

  • Invisible cut:

The goal of these cuts is to keep the shot looking like it was shot in one continuous take.     We can do something similar by filling the end of one frame entirely with black or low-lit (or a similar color in general) and blending it with the beginning of the next clip, or by doing something like a whip pan.

Is good editing important?

Editing characteristics give an interesting twist to the story in the film. At Setjoo Studio, each editing technique allows us to give a new spin to individual scenes to truly make the result award-worthy. So allow us to transform your film into a memorable piece of art!
